Newcastle Evening Chronicle - Autographed Sports Stars

1940s
Autographed Sports Stars
Newcastle Evening Chronicle
Unknown number

Another newspaper cut-out, this time with a facsimile autograph. Please excuse the very small illustration, it's the only one I've ever found from this collection. Can anyone supply any further photos.

Another batch of Italian cards (and one marble), featuring John Charles and Gerry Hitchens. Can anyone identify which collections these cards come from? Season, Title, Issuer? Any help would be much appreciated.

Another collectable cut-out, though rather large as it's a full page advert from a contemporary comic or magazine. This is no. 1 in a numbered series of adverts. I don't know how many there were in total.

Crescent Confectionery - CRE-100 Sportsmen

1928
CRE-100 / CRM-3 Sportsmen
Crescent Confectionery
100

These are very rare cards. Crescent Confectionery issued a number of sets of cards. One set containing only Footballers ran to 100 cards, were unnumbered and had a design on the backs. There was also 10 series of 10 cards with each series concentrating on a specific sport (see http://cartophilic-info-exch.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Crescent%20Confectionery). This collection of Sportsmen is similar in style to those in the series of 10, and has plain backs. Apparently there are 47 footballers in this collection.
UPDATE (20-11-2016 12:03):  Thanks to Steve Flemming for providing some additional information relating to the cricket cards in this collection.

Football & Sports Favourite - Grand Coloured Plate

Grand Coloured Plate (Front cover cut-outs)
Football & Sports Favourite
?

Football & Sports Favourite started life as Football Favourite with the first issue on 4 September 1920. By 7 May the following year (issue 36) it had been renamed. The magazine usually had colour covers but this series of illustrations were intended to be cut out and collected. I've only got information on three of these issues.

Vol.12 #393: 17-03-28.  Jimmy McMillan (Manchester City)

Glentoran Gazette Collection 2001/02
Glentoran Supporters Committee (1923)
20 cards

The Glentoran Gazette is the title of the matchday programme for Glentoran F.C., which is produced by the Glentoran Supporters Committee (1923). In 2001/02 season a set of 20 collector cards were given with the programme, probably one per match. They were issued in association with Speedfit. I only know of 3 cards.

The back of the coupon states: Free Full-Size Football To every boy who collects a complete set of 20 Coupon making up the Scottish League First Division and forwards them to Sim's Confection Works, Paisley.

Were there just 20 coupons to collect? In the 1920s there were as many as 56 clubs competing in the Scottish League, though the norm was usually 40 throughout the late 1920s and 1930s.

A number of small cards, John Charles and Gerry Hitchens. Two ex-Cardiff City players who had successful spells in Italy. Can anyone identify which collections these cards come from? Season, Title, Issuer? The top two might come from the same set, the same with the bottom two, even though the typeface is different. Any help would be much appreciated.

Soccer Trivia
England's Glory, Swedish Match
36

Another success story. I've been able to procure a list of all the questions for the Soccer Trivia matchbox labels. I didn't realise that the 'Did You Know?' section was made up of the answers to the Soccer trivia questions.
