Gregory Graetz has provided some information about this set of cards. Another set with red borders, and although they are similar these are not playing cards and the grey backs have text printed in blue. In trying to gather more information, things started to become less clear, some numbers appear twice, so it's possible the list covers more than one set. I can only find Club Emblems with high numbers so I presume they are part of this set, but I've also found footballers in this section too. There are a group of rugby players included as they may be part of this set too, but Pelé appears amongst them, and that seems strange. There are plenty of gaps and a couple of cards listed at the end of the checklist as I don't know what the card numbers are for them. We would be pleased to hear from anyone who can provide further information.

Some of the teams are dated "1959-60" and as it's very rare to find a new issue of cards using last season's teams we must surely conclude that this series came out during the same season as the cards' dates.

Also, the players: many would be in the wrong strips for 1961-62, such as Penverne and Cisowski, both of whom are seen in their 1959-60 strips; both of whom moved clubs before the 1960-61 season.

The team photo of St. Etienne includes reference to "Coupe de France 1960" with the team losing the French Cup Final in May 1960. Carl and I agree that the most like issue date would be the third or fourth quarter of 1960, so I am happy to amend the date from 1961-62 to 1960.
